Summer 2018 Intern Cohort

GTE recruits from some of the top MBA and Bachelors programs for the staffing of the search teams. Search teams are tasked by their leading Operator-In-Residence (OIR) to identify and research potential acquisition targets or deal partnerships.

 

MBA Search interns

 Jake is a second year MBA candidate at the Tepper School of Business and is in the Entrepreneurship through Acquisition Track with additional studies focused on operations and strategy. Before going back to business school, he built a career in management consulting. His projects were located globally and they encompassed a wide range of topics from logistics and operations optimization to strategic planning for mergers between multiple government organizations. This summer, he is getting first hand experience in the search fund environment and building his knowledge for the possibility of this career path post-MBA. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia in Economics and Psychology.

Undergraduate PRIVATE EQUITY ANALYST INTERNs

 Vincent is currently studying finance and accounting at Boston University. He is involved in many clubs and societies on campus such as the Finance and Investment Club, Habitat for Humanity of Boston University, Global Business Brigades and a member of Sigma Chi men's fraternity. He serves as a teaching assistant for the Questrom School of Business as well. Outside of class, Vincent enjoys music production and all types of sports. He is excited to learn more about the industry of search funds and perfect his modeling skills through his summer internship at GTE.

 Dominic is a senior at Duquesne University, graduating early in December 2018, majoring in Finance with a minor in Economics. At his time at Duquesne, he is involved heavily with their Asset Management Group (DAMG). He was elected to the four person board of directors as a Freshman and currently serves as President of DAMG. He also lead the effort to establish a new fund called the Micro-Cap fund where they use factor based investing to make investment decisions. Outside of class and investing, Dominic enjoys traveling, scuba diving, and skiing. He has taken a study abroad trip to Hungary and Ireland and also travels to Mexico and the Dominican Republic to scuba dive. While at GTE, Dominic hopes to strengthen his skills in DCF and LBO valuation modeling, as well as learn the various elements of deal negotiation.

 Dalton just finished his Sophomore year at the University of Pittsburgh where he is majoring in Finance and Accounting while minoring in Economics. He is currently the head of Finance for Enactus, a social entrepreneurship club and the VP of a venture capital project. When not in school, Dalton enjoys watching sports, going to the gym, and playing baseball. He is most excited to gets hands on experience evaluating companies and creating financial models while at GTE for the summer.

 Andrew is a rising sophomore at Villanova University currently pursuing a double major in Finance and Accounting. At Villanova, he is the portfolio manager of the newly acquired O'Donoghue healthcare fund and holds a position on the executive board of the Mergers & Acquisitions Society. In addition to his school involvement, Andrew plays club rugby and volunteers for the B+ Foundation for supporting families affected by pediatric cancer. At GTE, he looks forward to learning more about general business practices and about the search fund process

 Youwei is a graduate student at Katz Business school majoring in accounting and business analytics. During his undergraduate in Beijing, he was the president of the Union of Student Societies, which represents and governs all constituent student societies in the University. He entered into the GTE internship seeking transformation from a student into a working professional and to practice his analytical skills. He is interested in social responsibility, stand-up comedy, and exploring restaurants in Pittsburgh.

During the 2017-2018 school year, he was Membership and Engagement Chair for Common Cents Investment Group and Treasurer for Buckeye Officials Association. He also works for Ohio State’s Department of Recreational Sports as a supervisor and intramural sports official. Officiating sports is a passion of his as he is also a high school certified basketball official in Pennsylvania and high school certified baseball umpire in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He is excited to evaluate investment opportunities and conduct financial valuations during his summer at GTE.

She is the upcoming treasurer for the Women in Finance Club on campus and a campus rep for Forte Foundation, a national organization focusing on helping females in business. She also joined several other organizations related to finance on campus. Outside of school, she enjoys travelling and exploring new things, karaoke, and watching psychological/crime thrillers. She is excited to become a part of GTE, getting more insight into the search fund model, as well as improving her industry knowledge and financial skills. This is also her first time in Pittsburgh, so she is excited to explore another new city.

While at GTE, he hopes to expand his professional networks and learn more about search funds and industry evaluation.

 Josh is a rising third year student at the McIntire School of Commerce of the University of Virginia. He is studying Finance and Statistics with plans to pursue a track in Quantitative Finance. While a student, Josh is active in the McIntire Sales and Trading Group, Virginia Case Club, and Relay for Life fundraising efforts. While at GTE, he looks to further develop his skills in company research and analysis while learning more about deal structure. He spends his free time developing people skills through his fraternity along with playing sports, skiing, and wakeboarding.

In his free time, he enjoys reading, running, and playing guitar for his band in Philly. At GTE he hopes to build his network further and hone in on his analytical skills.

In his free time, he enjoys going to the beach and spending time with friends.

While at GTE, he hopes to build his personal network and ultimately transition into investment banking post graduation. In his free time, he likes to ski and play chess.

He has a passion for cryptocurrency, and recently presented to KeyBanc Capital Markets about the use of Bitcoin in debt financing. While at GTE, he hopes to learn more about financial modeling and industry evaluation. In his free time he enjoys video editing and relaxing with friends.

At GTE, Terriann looks forward to building her network and strengthening her financial modeling skills this summer.
