On July 10th, the GTE team took a field trip to Vandergrift, PA to visit Uncle Charley’s Sausage Factory. When the group arrived, interns and operators were split into groups of six, and given large white coats accessorized with hair and beard nets. After the groups were in uniform, the factory tour began. Groups were lead through the entire factory by Len Caric, owner and President of Uncle Charley's. GTE's members learned about the factory’s process, from where the meat for the sausage comes from, to the robot who places the sausages in their trays, all the way to packaging and shipping areas, where products are trucked to various locations. After the tours were completed, GTE sat down with Len to learn more about what led to his decision to purchase Uncle Charley’s Sausage Factory in 2014. Len's story of entrepreneurship offered insight to searchers and other members of GTE on the challenges and rewards of company acquisition. To commemorate the team's visit, Uncle Charley's posted about the experience on their Facebook page.
